Haflong, October 13- In addition to security
services provided in the district, Assam Rifles carries out medical camps in
regular interval to fulfill the health needs of people of the remote areas of
the district, as a part of military civic action programmes.
Under the aegis of Red Shield Division,
the medical staff of 25 Assam Rifles conducted a joint medical camp with
Holy Spirit hospital, Haflong at a remote village of Samparidisa, under Haflong
Circle on 09 Oct 2011. As vide publicity
was given well in advance regarding the
camp, many villagers turned up at the camp from the remote villages of Dima
Hasao district.
Altogether 128 villagers of these remote
areas availed the facilities of free medical treatment. Facilities of blood tests with laboratory
technician was also provided at the health camp. Special malaria detection checks of 25
villagers were also carried out. The medical officer of 25 Assam Rifles also
spoke on public health and hygiene and gave medical advices and precaution
against various communicable and waterborne diseases.
The
occasion witnessed unprecedented synergy between the security forces and the
civilians. The villagers expressed their
gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for their sincere and unassuming dedication
towards addressing the problem of the hill people in remote areas.
