Rual Safak Observed In Zion Village



Haflong, February 1: The Hrangkhol Community has observed the harvesting festival called Rual Safak amidst of joy and happiness  today in Zion Village ,Haflong, Dima Hasao.   On the occasion Debojieet Thaosen ,CEM, N.C.Hills Autonomous Council was present  as chief guest  and  attended by D.P.Hojai, EM, ST Jema Hrangkhol, EM, Nirmal Langthasa,EM, N.C.Hills Autonomous Council along with other dignitaries and hundreds of villagers were present.

Hrangkhol community displayed a special dance called ‘Bhailam’ to welcome respectable persons into the village. This year the main attraction of these festivals was the performance of songs and dances known as Darlam, Doinkini, Rochemiam and Soksollam.  On the day except the main entry to the village, all other gates are closed for the day.
The Hrangkhol community celebrate this important festival when the spring comes and flowers blossom everywhere. The young men collect wild flowers from the nearby forest and offer them to the oldest man of the village in a decorated basket and greet each other and welcome the advent of spring. The community sings and dance unless like other hill tribes expressing prayer which signify  health, happiness and peace, the festival is also been observed  in other parts of Diam Hasao district
