Haflong, May 31,2015 : With an aim to extend its services among all the people of India, a special Promotional Programme was held at Songpijang Christian Church, Songpijang, near Haflong by Bible Society of India (BSI), Haflong Branch on 31st May 2015.
In this connection, a public worship service was held from 10 A.M.,which was conducted by Elder Alan Jeme and was attended by the organizer, its president Rev. H.Haolai and almost all the office-bearers, collectors, members and representatives from different Churches in and around Haflong. Besides, the welknown KVP Choir of Fiangpui felt its presence with their thrilling songs.
At the outset, the Secretary of the BSI Haflong Branch Lalthanmawia Thianglai welcome all the gathering in Jesus name. Expressing his thanks to the local Church leaders and members for always supporting the BSI, said that being the Church of most educated village in Dima Hasao ( earlier North Cachar Hills) district, many members have already enrolled themselves as Chief Patron, Patron, Life member and also regularly contributed to the Society. He, as such, felt not necessary to explain about the BSI and its aims and purposes.
The Secretary, therefore, offered a short report about the activities and progress of the branch for the year 2014-15 and future programme. That the BSI is committed to give the Bible to every linguistic community of India in their own mother tongue so that everybody can study the word of God in own dialect and understand the love of God and His salvation through Jesus Christ. He also reminded the gathering how the Bible is given to all like free of cost, only charging the handling/ transportation cost.
According to him, the actual cost of the Holy Bible is about Rs. 1,500/- to Rs. 5000/-. But due to the contribution/ donation of BSI members/ Churches the Bible Society of India (BSI) is giving the purchasers at around Rs. 100/, this is not printing cost, selling price but only handling/packaging/transportation cost.
Mr. Lalthanmawia Thianglai, extended thanks to all BSI members and all who contributed that they are participating towards the extension of the Kingdom of God. He appealed to the gathering to enrol more members to participate in this endeavour for the extension of the Kingdom of God and for the glory of God in Jesus Christ.
The appointed speaker was Rev. Jampao Lhouvum, who delivered a challenging message. Here is the summing up of his speech ( my own version) :
“I stand here because of one person. That person promised and sponsored all the fees of my B.D.course. That was possible as I committed myself to God saying ‘Lord, I am here, send me’.
Praise the Lord”.
Then, he challenged the gathering, “God want you too to say ‘Lord, I am here, send me’. But not all of us can go to the field. In that case you can sponsor, you can pay, you can sponsor those who go for the work. You can, at least contribute few sum for the work of the Lord.”
According to Rev. Jampao, there are many Jesus among the Christian. Thought the real Jesus is the ‘Jesus of Nazareth, many Christian created their own respective Jesus. Such self-created Jesus, he said, never command you to love, help and serve others and never send you to preach Gospel among the people. That Jesus will make you self-cantered, selfish, jealous, materialist and ungodly. The result is doom for you too.
What Jesus you are following?
The Jesus of Nazareth command all His followers, the God loving people to go and preach the Gospel and make disciples among all nation (Matthew 28-18-20).
God love all people of all nations of the world. In His love, God sent His Son Jesus to the world that all who believe in Him may have eternal life. Jesus came, taught people about the Kingdom of God and how one can enter the Kingdom of God. According to God’s plan, Jesus died on the Cross and rouse again from the dead on the third day. He ascended on heaven and sits on the right side of the Father God in Heaven. The Father has given Him all authority on earth and in heaven. He is coming again to bring and reward all who receive Him as Lord and Saviour but to judge and punish all who rejected Him.
According to the Bible, there are only two ways and two place – Heaven and Hell. The only way to Heaven is Jesus Christ. All who received Jesus Christ will enjoy eternal life with God in Heaven and all who rejected Christ will go to hell for eternal punishment in the Lake of fire.
Therefore, just before His ascension, Jesus commanded His disciples to “Go and preach to all nations” about the Love of God, the Salvation of God from eternal damnation. (Matthew 28:18-20).
This is called ‘the Great Commandment and is the duty of all Christian to tell all nations of the world.
Not every individual Christian cannot go out to preach. But all have to take part in this mission. You can pray and donate in cash or in kind.
The BSI is committed to make the Bible available for all is our priority in BSI. You can participate in BSI mission. You can take membership as Life member, Patron Member, Chief Patron Member, etc. Contribute generously so that those who do not have the Bible may receive the Bible free of cost.

After that, a meeting was held among the BSI members and discussed about a plot of land,for holding office at CHT Synod allotted room, etc. are future programme, as per report of the Secretary.
