Ranu, Niranjan Grace Jubilee of Minaret Club as Chief Guests


HAFLONG, Sept 3 : The Minaret Club, Haflong Celebrated its twenty five years of its existence as ‘Silver Jubilee’ from 20 - 22 August at District Library Auditorium, inform the Chairman and Organizing Secretary of Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee Samsul Alam and Zagir Khan.
The opening ceremony, on 20th August was graced by the Executive Members of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council  Niranjan Hojai and Subrata Thaosen as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, while the closing celebration was attended by Chairperson of N.C. Hills Autonomous Counci  Ranu Langthasa as Chief-Guest at 3pm.
The celebration programme started with flag hosting and short speech by its president Abdul Gofur and opening of Silver Jubilee by the Chief Guest Niranjan Hojai and felicitation to the Chief Guest and Guest of honour. That was followed by welcome address by its General Secretary Md. Istak Ahmed Hoque and welcome songs.

In his speech, the Chief Guest EM Niranjan Hojai appreciated the organizing committee  for organizing such celebration successfully and lauds the activities of the Minaret Club through the past  twenty  five  years of its existence such as their activities on sports, Culture, ecology, edification, etc.
Mr. Hojai also  expressed hope that the Club will continue its noble efforts to bring about a positive change in the society and in the district.
Later on, the Chief Guest flag off the Bike Rally organized in this connection for peace and mutual understanding among the people of the district.
Other items of the day include Art Competition, Debate Competition, Quiz Competition.
On the second day, the members and well wishers held sports of various kind, community feast and  cultural programme from 3pm onwards.
The 3rd day, 22nd August was mainly cultural function and closing ceremony, which started at 1pm and was attended by Chairperson of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong Ms Ranu Langthasa as Chief-Guest at 3pm, who also released ‘Souvenir’ and spoke on the occasion.
The items included felicitation to Chief Guest, Guest of honour, etc, welcome address by Org. Secretary SJCC Zagir Khan; report on Gist of Minaret Club by Chairman SJCC Samsul Alam, Release of Souvenir and speech by Chief Guest and Guest of honour, cultural items, vote of thanks by Minaret Club GS Md. Istak Ahmed Hoque and closing the celebration.
Minaret Club was formed on 14th July 1991 with Amin Khan and Samsul Alam as president and general Secretary.  Minaret Club was the  first at Haflong to conduct Free Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) coaching in Dima Hasao district.
The Club also had conducted Free HSLC coaching, many sporting events, Rural literacy programme, awareness generation programme, Art and Culture preservation programme, felicitation of talented students, etc.
