Childrens’ Day cum Annual Day Celebration by Bridge of Hope


 SONGPIJANG,Haflong, Nov 14 : Childrens’ Day cum Annual Celebration programme was organized by Bridge of Hope (BoH) of Songpijang, Haflong today November 14,2016 from 2:30pm onwards at M.Tilla ground, which was attended by guests, staffs and children of BoH, parents, guardians and many others.


The programme was graced by Dr.T.Haolai, Rtd Addl. Director Medical & Health Services of Assam as Chief Guest, who delivered an encouraging speech with good instruction to  staffs, Children, parents and guardians. He  appreciated  the successful endeavour of this NGO ‘Bridge of Hope’, which is a childcare Project of Believers Church with its project centre at Songpijang, Haflong.  Being encouraged and satisfied of the programme with colourful cultural items by the student community and the success of the Childcare project, the Chief Guest  gave few cash as gift.

Speaking on the occasion, the Guest of honour  Rev. Fr. Soumen Panda, Diocesan Secretary, Tezpur  reminded the gathering  how the first Prime Minister of India Lt. Jawaharlal Nehru loved and care for children, in his honour the 14th November is celebrated as ‘Childrens’ Day’. He said that all the matured Indian should loved children and   give them the best education with ‘love and care’ ; parents and teachers should spend time with them,take care, bring them up in the best way; be taught and guided to be good citizens and leaders of the nation.
“If we want India to be a good and progress country, we should train, teach and brought our children to  good citizen, with good moral and able to bring India ‘peace and progress country.  ‘Bridge of Hope’ is providing such teaching and guidance to bring them up with love and care so that they may become good citizen of India”, he said.
The most attractive and the main items were cultural items, which entertained the gathering, attracting huge gathering, even from common people. On the occasion, the senior children presented Kuki traditional dance, group songs and solos; while junior children entertained the gathering with various types of dance, Group songs and action songs in English, Hindi and Kuki.
Earlier, after opening prayer by T.Hengna, the Project Co ordinator of BoH S.Chongloi welcome all and felicitated the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour with Kuki traditional shawls and other distinguish guests like BoH admin staffs of Tezpur RN S.Rengma; Sudir and Editor of the Haflong News/Times L.K.Hengna with Kuki traditional gamocha. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from BoH Social Worker L.Singson and benediction from Rev.Fr. Soumen Panda. Later, the organizers served light refreshment to all participants.
