Celebration of 65th Independence Day at Haflong


VIP of the occasion Debojit Thaosen deliver speech
CEM Haflong, 15 August,2011- With rest of the country, the 65th Indian Independence Day was celebrated  at DSA ground ( N.L.Daulagupu Sports’ Complex ), Haflong today on 15th August, 2011 in a befitting manner.




In this occasion, Debojit Thaosen, the Chief Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council unfurled the Indian  National Tri-colour  and inspected the guard of honour. The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and other dignitaries from the Indian Army, Paramilitary Forces, Senior citizens and a large number of public attended the programme.

CEM flag off the National Addressing the gathering, the CEM Debojit Thaosen stressed on all round development of the district through various departments. He also appreciated and informed the coming back of peace and normalcy in the district with the help of different security forces and the citizens as well.
In the occasion, Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak was posthumously conferred to Lt. Som Bahadur Chetri for his heroic act against terrorism by the District Administration. The award was received by his wife Smti. Manu Chetri.


The Social Welfare Department distributed a respectable amount of cash packages among the different NGOs  and also 2 (two) physically challenged persons namely Smti. Chongneithem Doungel of Songpijang and Smti. Rupali Rai of Haflong were given assistance for their self-dependence.
 The celebration was made colourful by different tribes and community by displaying beautiful traditional dances and also a n attractive display by the 25 Assam Rifles. Moreover, felicitation to three meritorious students showing outstanding results and distribution of prizes for the best contingents among the March Past and cultural troupes also added the items.
