27th September-As World Tourism Day is being celebrated under the theme “Tourism–Linking Cultures” throughout the world. The Department of Information and Public Relations,Haflong had taken the opportunity to release a documentary film in DVD format on the district.

The main purpose of this documentary titled “Dima Hasao Tourism Changing Visage”is to promote the district its tourism potentialities to the outside world.With the releasing of this documentary short film The Department of Information and Public Relations ,Dima Hasao District hopes that people from outside would get some idea about the District.It is a humble initiatives of the Information and Public Relations Department of Dima Hasao District with limited budgetary provisión and was attempted to promote Dima Hasao District as a tourist destination and to explore and tap the tourism potentialities of the District and to generate much needed revenue and employment avenues in the tourism sector by introducing to the viewers and attracting both foreign and domestic tourists.The DVD format documentary film will be handed out to different tour agencies in the state,as well as to hotels and tourists as a promotional efforts.

Haflong, October 2 – The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Office, Haflong held a press conference in the DC’s Conference Hall of its office at Haflong today along with the local media persons. The meeting was conducted, on behalf of the DC, by the Addl. DC Khagendra Choudhury ACS accompanied by Election Officer Laskar ACS and DIPRO L.Hmachuana Joute.
During the press meet, the ADC K.Choudhury informed the media that his (Election Registration Officer of 16-Haflong (ST) L.A.Constituency) office had issued a notification to the Electors of the 16-Haflong (ST) L.A.Constituency -
that the Electoral Roll has been prepared in accordane with registration of Electoral Rules,1960 and a copy thereof is available for inspection at the designated locations with Designated Officers (BLOs) in each Polling Station and at District Election Office, Haflong during office hours. The qualifying date for the preparation of Electorall Rolls is 1st January-2012.
He also said that If with reference to the said qualifying date, there be any claim for inclusion of name or any objection should be lodged on or before 01-11-2011 (Tuesday) in Form 6,7,8, or 8A as may be appropriate.Every such claim and objection should either be presented at the place specified above or sent by post to the undersigned and must reach latest by 1st November/2011 during office hours.
The Election Officer R.K.Laskar ACS informed that any one who are intending to enlist his name or addition or change must produce original documents while submitting Xerox copies to the office. All such documents must be supported by passport size photographs.
Further, the office also issued an order about the appointment of personnel detailed as AERO’s against each polling stations for disposal of claims and objection petitions in connection with continuous updation as well as Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to 0110-2012 as qualifying date.
The DC directed all the AEROs to maintain close liaison with respective Booth Level Officers and dispose of all claim and objection petitions received by the BLOs and submit progress report to the Election Officer and Election Registration Officer, 16-Haflong (ST) L.A.Constituency as per format time to time.
Training for quake Mock Drills
28th September 2011, Haflong:- 3(three) days Training Programme for Volunteers for conduct of subsequent Earthquake Mock Drills in selected schools of Dima Hasao District was innaugurated on 28th September at Government Girl’s Higher Secondary School at Haflong by the Addittional Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao Shri.Khanindra Choudhury,ACS
The programme was organised by the DDMA,Dima Hasao and the opening ceremony was also attended by Inspector of Schools,Deputy Inspector of Schools,Principal Haflong Govt. College,Youth Co-Ordinator NYK and other dignitaries as well as the teachers who are taking part in the Training.The training has been organised in the wake of the recent disastrous earthquake in the neighbouring State of Sikkim.The President of the meeting and ADC,Dima Hasao Shri Khanindra Choudhury,ACS says that the región has been placed in a highly seismic zone.In view of the recent quake in Sikkim the Government of Assam promoted a role in disaster management act that every district should have a Disaster Management Cell and Disaster Management Authority to create awareness.He also said that the main purpose of the training is to spread awareness among the school teachers to teach the school children.Various issues in regard to earthquake and how to prevent the disastrous effect will be imparted to the trainees and then move on to create awareness from the school children to the public.He also thanked the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council for the support the management is receiving in organising the training and various Departments of the district.
