With
rest of the world, Children’s Day was celebrated along with Annual Day of the
Bridge of Hope at the premises of Believers’ Church, Songpijang on the 14th
of November,2011. The programme was organized by Bridge of Hope, a childcare
project of Believers’ Church.
Presided
over by Social worker, BOH L.Singson; the
programme started with opening prayer by
Pastor P.Doungel and a welcome address by the Project Manager S.Chongloi.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Chief-Guest the
former Executive Member & existing MAC of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council
Haflong Shri. Ngamsei Hengna recalled the love of Children by the first Prime
Minister of Independent India Jawaharlal Nehru, who dedicated his birthday to
be celebrated as Children Day. He dwelled in length that even the Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ also love the Children and blessed them saying “You must
be like the children so that you can enter Heaven”. Mr. Hengna also exhorted
the students to work hard with determination and be obedient to the teachers so
as to become a responsible citizen in future.
Attending
as special guest Church Elder as well as the General Secretary of DCC (I) Shri.
T.K.Doungel given a special stress about the need of playing a positive role by
parents and guardians for the development of spiritual, physical and mental
health of the children, who are the future of the country.
Earlier,
Rev. Fr. Thanghao Doungel highlighted the aims and objects of the Bridge of
Hope, which as per his speech, is to provide free education, healthcare,
nutrition food and school supplies among the under-privileged children. He says
that the BoH is presently helping over 60,000 children through 525 projects
spreading all over India and abroad. It focuses on equipping these children not
only to grow up to responsible citizen but also to reach their utmost
potential. The programme came into conclusion with a word of prayer by
M.K.Neihsial.
