| Banks remain closed during ASEF’s strike at Haflong. |
Haflong, February 29,2012 - With rest of the country, the Assam State Emplyees’ Federation (ASEF), Haflong District Committee observed oneday Strike on 28 February,2012 for the whole Dima Hasao District.
The strike hit normal functioning of most of the offices, Colleges, state owned Schools and the only three banks at Haflong - State Bank of India, United Bank of India and Langpi-Dihangi Rural Development (all branches) remain closed during the strike, which cause difficulty for general public. However, the institutions under direct control of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council ,Dima Hasao Autonomous Council office and private schools were not affected. see p-2

Among other demands in state and center level, the ASEF of Dima Hasao District demands the Abolition of New Pension Policies, Arrest high price of all essential commodities, Provincialsation of All Adhoc Schools, Immediate Regularisation of All M.R.,Work-Charge and Casual Employees, Stop contractual basis appointment, Payment of all arrear dues, Enhancement of M.A. upto Rs. 2000/- PM and Enhancement of HA upto 20% of basis pay
