LIGHTING A LAMP

Waimijing the Dimasa socio-cultural club should be proud to say that they invested their money on Good Cause. A fea years ago, the club decided to sponsor some poor children’s education at TM Good Shepherd School, Gunjung. From this children this year five student sponsored by them wrote their HLSC exam. These poor children and their families are grateful to the organisation for bring life and light in their lives and family. Kudos to Waimijing members.

Their action reminds me of the bible story of wise man building house upon the rock. They did not give the family a welfare scheme or gift of money or wealth. If they had done, money could have been spent for the families’ temporary need. They gave them education as the tool to work their way home. Building their future on rock so that in future if any storm comes in their lives, they will have tool to defend themselves. It reminds me of that famous and often quoted by people ‘to teaching someone how to fish rather than giving him fish for a day’.
Education is the best inheritance parents should give. It is better than all property or wealth or bank balance or gold in the world. According to me, the Waimijing club has played a role of good elder brother and for this they should be saluted.
We, the human beings should learn good lessons from each other. So it is a challenge and example to so many of us to do good. Let us not wait for right opportunity. The  right time is now. Our little sacrifice will educate our beloved district and our own tribes. Some of us are rich and our Waimijing (The bamboo torch in Dimasa)  is burning so brightly why can’t we  light up someone’s small flickering lamp. And i am sure, our light will illuminate the lives of the poor students. Let’s make things better.
