Haflong, October 31: - The Dima Hasao
district administration observed Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas and National Vigilance
week at Haflong today. On the occasion a pledge taking ceremony was
administered by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Si-im Taro in presence of the
Deputy Commisioners and other officials.
After the pledge taking ceremony
an awareness rally was conducted to mark the occasion from Cultural Institute
Hall till the Council rotary which was largely attended by the college students,
officers and staff of different departments. Students, professors and
management of the Haflong Govt college also took part in the rally observing
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The rally was followed by a meeting at district library
auditorium. Every year the national vigilance awareness week is observed to
study issues and keep a check of corruption.
Deputy Commissioner Barun Bhuyan
in his speech said that this was an effort at making the public and the
government employees aware of the dangers and harm caused by corruption which
is anti poor, anti development and anti national.
Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas was
observed to mark the death anniversary of former Prime minister of India Indira
Gandi and the simultaneous observance of National Vigilance week was organised
to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbai Patel.
The meeting was also addressed
by the ADCs Si-im Taro, Z Nampui, DIPRO Purabi Ph Bodo, Jt. Secy of NCHAC
Hunekeukambe, Tourism official S Suchiang. Other guests who attended the
meeting were NCHAC Principal Secy. H K Bora, ADC and PD R Thaosen, Town
Committee Chairman K Sengyung and President of Jeme Council.
