Haflong, November 26 : After many years of unrest the populace of DimaHasao is finally beginning to understand and experience relief, says the Army in a press release. The spate of successful operations by the Assam Rifles against the terrorists who had made life difficult for the common man of the District has effectively blunted their influence and has today begun to pave way for much needed development of the District.
The entire area stands at the cusp of a new era today with a multitude of infrastructure projects underway and nearing completion which will only bring prosperity to the area and the people of the area are arisen to the fact.
The Assam Rifles are one of the biggest contributors here and continue to epitomize their credo, ‘Friends of the Hill People’in every sense of the word.
Having achieved substantial headway in peace and developmental efforts in Dima Hasao, the locals are exhorted to continue with their efforts to weed out the bane of insurgency by working in tandem with the Assam Rifles and other security forces. It is about time that our children awaken into an age of freedom from the culture of the gun and into an age of opportunity. It is also time to stop a while and holistically look at the efforts of the security forces, civil administration and Assam Rifles towards bringing opportunities to your door step. For these endeavors to succeed however, peace needs to be given a chance. It is also time to appreciate that the achievements of the security force, in particular the Assam Rifles have been made without any discomfort to you, the common man, whose better interest is their primary concern always. It is time to say no to illegal taxation and extortion as years of oppression have only delayed the onset of positive and much needed change in the area. Posters exhorting each law abiding citizen of the area to refrain from extending support to terrorism and anti social & anti development agencies have surfaced at prominent places in the area and are helping to usher in tides of change.
