Haflong, Dec. 12: Jatan Kumar Thaosen former member of the Assam Public Service Commission and also former Principal Secretary of N C Hills Autonomous Council noted intellectual, writer and a leading senior citizen of Dima Hasao breathed his last at around 10:45 a.m due to prolong illness at International hospital yesterday.
His demise has been deeply grieved by all in the district. An active reformer and learned person he has an immense contribution in various developmental activities relating to district and the Autonomous Council. To many he was more like a father figure who always stood as a pillar of guidance and who always cared deeply about youth and the community.
Thaosen was born on December 3, 1928 at Gunjung to Jogendra Nath Thaosen and Chandrabali Thaosen. He married Lt. Padma Devi and leaves behind two daughters and three sons. His youngest son Debojeet Thaosen is presently Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council.
