BG Engine Roll-out to Silchar from New Haflong Railway Station




Haflong, March, 13: As scheduled the Broad Gauge Engine was rolled out from New Haflong station, the trial run of broad gauge engine which was departed from Pathorkhula station at 6:30 AM and arrived in New Haflong Station  today at 10:55 AM. After a brief stopover with ritual and garlanding, the engine was departed at 11:05 AM to its destination Silchar. The ceremonial program was attended by the Chief Executive Officer, Ajit Pandit, N F Railway and Chief Engineer R K Zinger,N F Railway, dignitaries and crowd of people .

The broad gauge engine was accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, Ajit Pandit, N F Railway and Chief Engineer, R K Zinger, N F Railway will roll out a distance of 210 kilometre newly constructed broad gauge railway track between Lumding and Silchar. While, the engine will cross the 3.235 kilometre longest  tunnel near New-Haflong which is considered as one of the most critical tunnel in this 210 Kilometre Limding-Silchar broad gauge railway track.
 The railway source added that a light goods (LG) train is scheduled to run from Patharkhila to Silchar on 15th of March and back  to Patharkhula   on 16th March,2015 which will be accompanied by high level railway officials. Other hand for the first time a goods train was arrived on 12th of January, at New-Haflong Railway Station covering 98 Kilometre  distance from Patharkhula station to  New-Haflong station crossing 9 nos.tunnel,15 nos. stations,15 major bridges and 135 minor bridges.
The service of broad gauge railway which is likely to be start by next April as scheduled after clearance of Railway Safety Commissioner arriving from Delhi on 18th March . Other hand the running of trial train created a respite among the people of Dima Hasao and Barak valley and beyond which will fulfil the decade old needs and aspiration of people living in this region.
