Assam Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky Graced the 64th N.C Hills Autonomous Council Foundation Day as Chief Guest





Haflong, April 29: The 64th Foundation Day Celebration of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council held at District Library Auditorium was attended by Hon’ble Education Minister of Assam, Shri. Sarat Barkotoky  as Chief Guest today. At the outset, a felicitation programme and  a welcome song was followed by a short speech by NCHAC Chairman  & Chairman Central Celebration Committee Ngamrothang Hmar. In his speech he welcome all the dignitaries, Gaon Buras, Maujadars, NGOs, Members of Apex Body, Army personnel, Police personnel, Artist from various tribes and media persons etc, and paid tribute to those who are closely related with the formation of N C Hills Autonomous Council. As a sign of unity in diversity, various tribes of Dima Hasao presented their respective traditional dances.

                                    Later, NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debojeet Thaosen, in his short speech on this auspicious occasion call upon the people of Dima Hasao to show reverence and to respect the Autonomous Council as temple-like Holy place and to extend full co-operation without indulging in deteriorative means so that the district could develop and prosper. He also opined that the opposition party should react only for development of the land and people of this district and an irresponsible act of opposition party may ruin the development process. He also thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi and his government for their tremendous support to solve the problems of N.C. Hills Autonomous Council including salary problems of Normal Sector.
                                    After the release of Souvenir on 64th Foundation Day Celebration and a news magazine “Reflection” by the Education department, a felicitation programme was held in which Pranab Langthasa S/o. Jayanta Langthasa was felicitated with a certificate and Rs. 1.00 lac in cash for his achievement as silver medallist in the Mister Universe contest at Taranto in Italy in the year 2014. Baoringdao Bodo, S/o. Jivan Bodo was felicitated with a certificate and Rs. 50,000/- in cash who is the under 14 Sub-Junior National football team captain and Rewati Chetri D/o. of Baburam Chetri, who was among the 10 finalists and adjudged Miss Popular & Miss Multi-Media Award at fbb Miss India 2015 was awarded a certificate and Rs. 50,000/- in cash.
                                    The Chief Guest of the occasion, Hon’ble Education Minister Sarat Borkotoky, in his speech dwelt upon the motives of Assam government to develop the only hill district of Assam by transferring immense power and functions to Autonomous Council for developing the district towards road and transport communication, water supply, Irrigation, Education and other development departments. He also talked about the plans to establish a University at Haflong and the regularization of the contractual teachers of Haflong Govt. College. He also personally inspected the infrastructure of Haflong College and assured for early rectification. He also said that the problems of the district would be carried forward to the Chief Minister of Assam for early solution.

                        The Dignitaries who also attended the  programme were NCHAC Deputy Chairman, Executive Members, MACs, Principal Secretaries, Deputy Commissioner, Brigadier of 22 Sector AR, departmental heads of both Normal Sector and entrusted departments, NGOs, Senior Citizens,G.Bs, Maujadars and other dignitaries including thousands of the general public. The morning session ended with a vote of thanks from Principle Secretary (N) Sunil Nunisa. The evening cultural cum musical programme shall resume from 5 pm onwards.
