Tribal inhabited areas of Assam should be bared with the implementation of Assamese language - HSDC, DSU,DWS

Haflong, June 15 : The Hills HSDP Dima Hasao Co-Ordination Council, Dimasa Students’ Union (DSU) and Dimasa Womens’ Society (DWS), Dima Hasao express serious concern concern over the recently published in the daily Assamese News paper dated 6th June 2015 ‘Niyamiya Barta’ under its Anchalik Barta page number 7 with ‘Mahanagar Barta’ under the caption ‘Ekho Khotangkho Asomiya Basha Prayugar Dabi’ or demand for 100% implementation of Assamese language’. This was stated in a joint press release duly signed by the  HSDC DHCC Convener Kebaron Naiding, DSU Central Committee Secretary i/c Pramith Sengyung, President of DWS Central Com Nibita Langthasa on 9 June 2015.

The joint release stated that the Assamese lanuage must be used as the major language in all the Govt. and non-governmental institutions, educational institutions including dislaying of signboards, nameplates in Assamese language in Govt. and non-governmental institutions, hoarding of the business in various places in the state of assam shall be taken within a month as per the demand placed by the All Assam Non-Tribal Students’ Union during their Press Meet held in Guwahati.
Moreover, the release added that 80% candidates belonging to Assamese medium should be given preference in all the appointment in various spheres, 90% loan, government schemes as well as contract and supply works should be made compulsory to Assamese people within stipulated timeframe.
Failing which, the organisations threatened to damage and burnt to ashes to all Govt and non-Govt signboards, advertisements displayed in various places, terming it as disrespect to Assamese language.
Hence, HSDC, DSU and DWS appeal that the concerned organisation should never involve in such activities which may go against the integration of the nation, affecting peaceful coexistence in the region. At the same time, the three organisations are of the view that intervention of the Union Home Ministry may be necessary to resolve the same before it turned into chaos.
Furthermore, the tribal inhabited areas of Assam should be bared with the implementation of Assamese language, which otherwise may create communal disharmony in the state.
The HSDC, DSU and DWS are of the opinion that it appears to be debatable in all tribal organisations, apex bodies of all tribal communities of the nation for the greater interest of communal harmony in state’, concludes the release.
