CEM on 70th Independence Day make a Clarion Call for Peaceful Co existence for Development

HAFLONG, August 20 (Haflong News  22 August 2016) :  The Chief Ececutive Member of N.C.Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa’s called for ‘Peaceful Co-existence of all community if they want development’ was the most outstanding point of his speech on the occasion of the 70th Independence day celebration at Haflong on August 15,2016, while people of Haflong and surronding areas celebrated the day with rest of the nation throughout the sub-continent.
This is good news for the people  that  Dima Hasao district is triving for peace and progress under their rule. At the same time, this is also a challenge to all section of the people, whether they want development of the district, asserting that ‘peace and development (progress) goes together’.

On the position of the N.C.Hills Autonomous Council, he blamed  that the past leaders in the Council left the council in a bankrupt position, kept monthly salary of the employees unpaid for months together. He claimed that the BJP had ruled for three months and cleared three months salary ealier and now, they ruled for two months and cleared  two months salary;  and affirmed  that they are trying to clear pending salary, the process is going on.
 Though the celebration already  started since the past three days with  rigorous activities  as per instruction from the government,  on the day, the day long celebration programme  commenced  with prabhat ferry at 5:30 am to and fro DC’s office and Lower Haflong,  organised by the District Information and Public Relations office. That was followed by procession of  students from respective institution towards  N.L.Daulagupu Sports’ Complex, where the main event was held from 9am organized by the District Aministration.
Unfurling the tri-colour, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Debolal Gorlosa,  in the presence of the  Deputy Commissioner Amarendra Baruah  and Superintendent of Police D P Ghanawat, and other dignitaries and  huge gathering, he also inspected the guard of honour .
As a part of the programme CEM Gorlosa paid floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and inspected the contingents of the parade on ground. In his speech CEM Gorlosa expressed his deep concern over the poor condition of the district inspite of seventy long years of Independence. Comparing Dima Hasao with the rest of the developing places in India, he said the other than Haflong, Maibang and Umrangso rest of the interior villages in Dima Hasao requires a lot of attention from the government since they almost lead a primitive lifestyle and development in those places are of far cry. Gorlosa opined that he has faith in government and his team of autonomous council members and expects development in true sense throughout the district. Stressing on the importance of improvement of tourism sector in the district he said peace and brotherhood among the people of various communities in Dima Hasao is necessary.
The programme also included colourful cultural programme by various tribes and communities of the district like Dimasa, Jeme, Hrangkhol, Biate, Kuki, Assamese, Begali, Manipuri etc. Towards the end of the programme prizes were distributed to the participants of the march past, cultural programme so as to encourage them. Awards were also given out achievers in various fields such as education, agriculture, sericulture, medical, veterinary sports, industries, town committee etc.
The programme was attended by MLA BB Hagjer, EMs and MACs, officers and staff from 22 sector Assam Rifles, 43 Assam Rifles, Assam Police, various entrusted departments, departments under council and district administration. Fruits and sweets were distributed to jail inmates, patients of Haflong Civil Hospital, orphanage by Dy Director of Food, Civil supplies & Consumer Affairs, Haflong.
The people of Maibang Sub-division also celebrated the day at  Disru g playround at  Maibang,  in a grand manner with people from surrounding villages witnessed the programme. Civil SDO N K Debnath, ACS unfurled the tricolour accompanied by SDPO Er. Prateek V. Thube,  IPS at Dishru filed in Maibang.
