Candle Rally on Freedom from Open Defecation under SBM (G)

 HAFLONG, September 1 : A Block/MAC Level Rally on Freedom from Open Defecation was held at Lungchiram vilage on 31st August from 4.30 pm onwards under IEC Activities conducted by DWSC, Swaach Bharat Mission (Gramin), Dima Hasao.
In this connection, an awareness meeting  was held in the premises of Dekechang of the village which was conducted by Social worker Aching Zeme of Lodi village, attended by Member Secretary of SBM (Gramin) & Executive Engineer, PHE Haflong Division Er. Lokman Ali, Nodal Officer of SBM (Gramin) Pintu Langthasa, GB of Lungchiram Salung Zeme, GB of Inchaikang Lungbambe Kuame, GB of Krisnanagar Bir Bahadur Thapa and villagers.

Speaking on the occasion,  Er. Ali made the villagers aware of the mission that every household would be given Individual Household Latrine (IHL) and water facility, which the villagers should learn to use properly  for healthy life. He advised them to use latrine and avoid open defecation for their own benefit, to live a healthy life and allow others touse their latrine instead of open defecation.
Earlier, the Nodal Officer Pintu Langthasa, on behalf of the of SBM (Gramin) felicitated the GBs and others with Assamese Gamocha, while Aching Zeme welcome all and explained the sppech of Er. Ali in local Zeme language.  The GBs thanked the authorities for providing the fecility from the government fund and urged them to provide water supply for the villagers, which is also necessary for the proper use of the IHL.
At around 6pm, a Candle Rally was taken out to and fro Dekachang and lower village by all  who attended the programme and also participated by children of the village. Later on, Zeme traditional dance was performed by the youth of the village, who were given a few cash by the Nodal Officer on behalf of the SBM (Gramin).
