HAFLONG, Oct 4: Seminar on Career Counselling was held at Longmang High School, Longmang near Haflong Civil Hospital today, which was organized and conducted by the Headmaster of the school Milan Konwar,attended by all the teaching staffs and students with great enthusiasm.
The seminar was graced by Senior Teacher of Govt. Boys’ Higher Secondary School L.C.Konwar and the Editor of ‘Haflong News’ (Haflong Times) L.K.Hengna as resource persons, besides, photographers Pankaj Timung and Bishnu Sharma also were present.
Whereas, L.K.Hengna, presenting paper on Career guidance and counselling, explained the importance of career guidance and counselling for the students, saying that choosing career starts from last days of High school. He said that England made compulsory for schools to conduct career counselling and guidance though India still does not made it so; which according to him, is necessary, especially in this backward area as 90% parents do not know even about college education. He also informed about the vast cope of employment opportunity in media when there is increasing unemployment problem in India. He briefly talked about information technology – mass media and the way to be involved.
Later on, some teachers also spoke on the occasion and a light refreshment was served after the programme.
