Haflong, November 30, 2020 : The Sikh
community of Haflong observed Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 30 at
Haflong with full of festivity and gaiety.
According to them, Guru Nanak Gurpurab is also known as Guru
Nanak's Prakash Utsav and Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth of the first Sikh Guru,
Guru Nanak, is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism.
The day-long program was started in the premises of
Haflong Gurdwara with prayer, Kirtan and ardas, where people from Sikh and
other communities gathered in the Gurdwara to mark the occasion.
On the
day guru ka langar (free kitchen) was also served to the people.
On the day, hundreds of people from all community were
present on the occasion, who offered prayer among the Sikhs worldwide and were
also served guru ka langar (free kitchen).
The festivities in the Sikh religion revolve around the
anniversaries of the 10 Sikh Gurus. The
10 Gurus were responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs.
Sri Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, was
born on April 15, 1469 in Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present Shekhupura
District of Pakistan, now Nankana Sahib.
