Haflong, December 25,2020 : The Christian community of Haflong
area celebrated Christmas with a day long programme today
“The actual celebration started from the evening of December 24,
2020 with worship service in respective Churches.
After Church programme, a
fellowship programme with singing songs and dancing together were held in
respective pandals. “During 'fellowship programme' the birth event of Jesus
Christ were observed at 12:01 AM of the night. They sang joyous songs like 'Joy
to the world the Lord is come' and other songs welcoming the coming of God in
human form.
Today, the main programme were celebration of the birth of Jesus
Christ. Worship service was held in every Church and 'fellowship programme'
with singing and dancing together up to 2:30 PM. Feast was held at 2:30 PM and
evening worship service in every Church from 5:30 PM. 'fellowship programme'
will be held at night again.
It is noteworthy that during worship service in Churches Children
presented Christmas songs and dances; the Youth in Choir sings Christmas Songs,
while women folk recites Bible verses about the birth of Jesus.“It may also be
noted that the Christmas celebration this year is much affected by COVID-19
pandemic.
Many Churches used to celebrate two to three days every year.
However, only December 25 could be celebrated this year, which was also
celebrated with many restrictions to follow COVID-19 protocol as far as
possible.““One of the attractive programme was the celebration at Songpijang
Christian Church.
