Haflong, December 17, 2020 : Authorities allowed Toll Tax Relaxation
for local people of Dima Hasao District in Manderdisa Toll Gate, as agreed in
Joint meeting with delegation of Dima Students’ Union Central Committee and All
Dima Students’ Union today.
According to DSU General Secretary Pramith Sengyung, in
response to the demand for closure of
Manderdisa Toll Gate, Maibang SDO (Civil) and PD, NHAI, Guwahati PIU
convened joint meeting with DSU Central Committee and ADSU Dima Hasao District
Committee today at Circuit House, Maibang.
On the occasion, leaders of the two organizations placed
their demand and grievances regarding the untimely opening of Manderdisa Toll
Plaza with incomplete NH project. The meeting thoroughly held discussion and
finally agreed to allow relaxation for the local people of Dima Hasao district.
This was disclosed to reporters by Sengyung, saying, “After
prolonged discussion finally the temporary solution came in favour of the
general public as of now Free Pass and relaxation of toll tax for both private
and commercial vehicles with any registered Vehicle Numbers and moreover
vehicles caring items for the people of Dima Hasao has been agreed by the
authorities till the start of construction of Incomplete work of NH 54 and NH
27.”
Later, the protesters also submitted Memorandum to the Regional Officer, NE, NHAI about their demand
with a hope for permanent solution to Road communication problems.
The leaders of DSU and ADSU thanked the SDO and NHAI
Officials for addressing the grievances in a positive manner and appeal to the
general public to carry proper documents and challans for items and vehicles
and bear with the toll plaza for smooth and healthy atmosphere.
Mention may be made here that the Toll gate at Manderdisa
had started functioning on December 15 but the next day, on December 16,
members of DSU and ADSU asked them to close the Toll gate. So, the SDO and
authorities of NHAI convened the joint meeting today and resolve the
differences.
