ISF to block road if maintenance not started within February 28

Haflong, February 18, 2021 : The ISF
threatened to launch an Indefinite road Blockade if maintenance work of NH-54E
Jatinga-Harangajao road is not started by the concerned authority within
February 28. This was informed by ISF President David Keivom on February 18.

This decision was taken by the Indigenous
Students’ Forum (ISF) Harangajao Branch in its joint meeting at Rekho
Harangajao on February 18.

The ISF Harangajao Branch organized a joint
meeting at Rekho Harangajao today, February 18, to discuss Regarding NH-54E
Jatinga-Harangajao road maintenance work & Compensation.

The meeting was attended by Gaon Burahs,
Student Leaders and Village Representatives of Harangajao areas.

It may be stated that the Ministry of Highway
had sanction 54Cr for the maintenance of Jatinga to Harangajao but  only Jatinga to Miyungkro maintenance work is
carried out even after we approach them several times.

“As the monsoon season is nearing and if the
maintenance work of the most critical portion Miyungkro  to Harangajao stretch which is a sinking area
is not started immediately we will continue to face the same problem like the
earlier.

So, the meeting has decided that if NHAI
doesn’t start the maintenance work within 28th February 2021 an indefinite road
Blockade will be organized from 1st march 2021",stated ISF.
