BJP not to enforce Pachayati Raj in Dima Hasao: CM Sonowal

 


Haflong, March 29, 2021 : Assam
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal promised that the BJP will not enforce
Panchayati Raj Act  in Dima Hasao
district.




This was stated by Sonowal in his
speech  during election campaign for
party candidate Smti. Nandita Garlosa at DSA ground, Haflong on March 28.




Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal
arrived Haflong from Guwahati by helicopter, which landed at Assam Rifles’ playground
at 11.30 am. Then, he came directly to DSA ground in Haflong and participated
in the Vijay Sankalp Rally.




Addressing the large gathering at
‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ organized by BJP Dima Hasao District Committee on Sunday,
Sonowal heartily praised the government. He did not give any new hope for the
people of the district in his in his fifteen minute speech. He only highlighted
the development done by the state government during the last five years.




He, however, said that there was
no question of enforcing Panchayati Raj law in the district. He also assured
that  the district will remain in the
Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution and the power of the Sixth Schedule
will be increased.




The Chief Minister appealed to
the large gathering to vote the BJP candidate of Haflong Smti. Nandita Garlosa
for the development of the district.




Sonowal said that the last seven
years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule have given more importance to the
Northeast and Assam. 




Moreover, it was during the BJP
government that lasting peace was established in the hill districts.
Infrastructural development of the district, ACS Academy at Umrangshu, Bamboo
Industrial Park at Hatikhali, construction of Dima Hasao building at Delhi etc.
are notable, added Mr.Sonowal.




The rally was also addressed by
BJP candidate for 16-Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly  Smti. Nandita Garlosa. She thanked the Chief
Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for he has extended help during difficult situation
of the district. She also appealed to the gathering to cast their vote in her
favour.




Other dignitaries present on the
occasion were CEM of N.C.Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Garlosa, Minister of
Uttarkhand Kedar Joishi,  MLA of Haflong
Birbhadra Hagger, Chairperson of NCHills Autonomous Council Smti.Ranu
Langthasa, EM Nipolal Hojai, EM Ngamrothang Hmar, District BJP President
Donpainon Thaosen and others.
