Haflong, April 20, 2021:
Amid tight security arrangement, re-polling passed off peacefully in two
polling stations of 107-Mualdam LP School and 107A-Khothlir L.P. School under
16-Haflong (ST) Assam Assembly constituency, today i.e April 20, 2021.
Polling started at 7 A.M in both the polling booths till 6:00 P.M.
The Election Commission vide its 495/ECI/LET/TERR/NE2-As-LA/2021 dtd April 10,
2021 ordered fresh poll in these two booths of Dima Hasao among the four in
entire Assam, in view of some anomalies during the second phase of the poll
held in 16-Haflong (ST) on 1st April, 2021.
As per the electoral roll, all together there are 706 votes of
which 62.96% turned out to vote today.
Earlier Repoll was ordered to be held on April 20 for Polling
Station 107, 107A of Haflong LAC
Report on April 12 stated
that the Returning Officer of 16-Haflong (ST) LAC & District Election
Officer, Dima Hasao district has notified on 12th April 2021 for repolling of
Polling Station No.107 & 107-A
The Notification, vide No. NCH/EL/PRE-10/2020-21/1134, Dated
Haflong the 12th April 2021 states : In pursuance of the directions of the
Election Commission of India communicated vide letter No.
495/ECI/LET/TERR/NE2-AS-LA/2021, Dtd. 10-04-2021, it is hereby notified for the
information of General Public that the Election Commission of India under
Sub-Section 2(a) of Section 58 of the Representation of the People Act,1951
declared that the poll taken on 1st April, 2021 at 107-Mualdam L.P.School and
107A-Khothlir L.P.School in connection wirh general Assembly Election to
16-Haflong (ST) LAC is null and void and appoints the 20th April, 2021
(Tuesday) as the date and fixes the hours from 7.00 A.M. to 6.00 P.M. for
taking fresh poll at the said polling stations in accordance with the Commission’s
instructions contained in Chapter XIII of the Hand Book for Returning Officer,
2019.
As such, all the voters of the concerned polling stations are
hereby requested to exercise their voting franchise at their respective polling
stations as detailed below on the date of re-poll to be held on 20/04/2021 from
7:00 AM to 6:00 PM in connection with Assembly Election to 16-Haflong (ST) LAC.
Villages included in 107-Mualdam L.P.School Polling Station are
Mualdam, Khothlir, P.Taijol and Thuruk villages with 616 total voters. Where as
107A-Khithlir L.P.School includes only Kotnipui village with 90 total voters.
