46 Cadres of DNLA militants lay down arms in Dima Hasao to join mainstream

 





Haflong,
November 14, 2021: Dimasa National Liberation Army militants ceremonially laid
down arms at Khepre in Dima Hasao before Assam’s ADGP (SB) Hiren Nath and IGP
(Law&Order) Dipak Kedia on November 13.



The
programme was also  was attended by Chief
Executive Member of NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa, Dima Hasao
Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, Superintendent of Police Jayant Singh, 11 Assam
Rifles Commandant Col. Ashok Bhandari and other dignitaries.



On
the occasion, 46 DNLA cadres along with its C-in-C Musrang Dimasa laid down
three AK series rifles, one M16 and three bolt action rifles at Kepre village,
around 106 km away from the district Headquarter Haflong in Dima Hasao district
of Assam.



The
groups included top leaders of the outfit chairman Etika Diphusa alias
Kharmindao Dimasa, deputy chairman Juddychan Haflongbar alias America Dimasa
and ‘general secretary’, Prithamjit Jidongsa alias Galao Dimasa were also
present during the arms laying ceremony.



Addressing
the gathering, the Additional Director General of Police (SB) Hiren Nath welcome
the cadres and said that the decision of coming over ground will surely bring
peace in the district and bring more developments for the district.



Talking
to reporters, the C-in-C Musrang Dimasa claimed that their cadre’s strength is
over 300 and rest will come over ground after setting cease fire camp in Karbi
Anglong, Umrongso, Maibang and one along Dima Hasao-Cachar district border. He
also strongly demand for ancestral land of Dimasa Hirimba Raji state, a separate
state of Dimasa with its own currency, culture etc..



It
may be stated that the outfit had signed sign an agreement with the Assam
government in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma last month. The
surrendering programme was arranged as per the agreement that the outfit would
lay down arms and join the mainstream.



Mention
may also be made here that the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) group had
announced its formation through a press release on 15th April, 2019.
