Haflong, 2nd November 2022 : Songpijang Youth Club celebrated its 50th Years of its existence as Golden Jubilee today, the 2nd November 2022 at Songpijang near Haflong in Dima Hasao of Assam.
The monolith was unveiled by Mr. Lamkai Guite GB of the village in presence of almost all the Village Committee members and present as well as former SYC leaders and others. Then, Upa Henkam Haolai prayed to God seeking blessings for the villagers.
That was followed by beating of Gongs by 50 (fifteen) leaders of the present VC and SYC leaders and veterans to mark the Golden Jubilee. The unveiling programme was closed with prayer by Upa Haujakhup Keivom.
The Cultural programme started at 11.30 am in a beautifully constructed large Hall at Songpijang playground with huge gathering. The colourful programme was attended by Commandant of 5th Assam Police Battalion Mr. Lamhao Doungel, who delivered encouraging speech for the youth .
The Hall with LED screen itself was attractive since this the gathering can watch all the gathering and items clearly, including their own image in cinema screen.
The programme started with welcome address by SYC President Thenhaolen Doungel and the flag was hoisted by the Village Secretary Upa Henjangam Haolai.The gathering was entertained by the sweet melodious songs of invited soloists Miss Hoisuaching Lunkim and Miss Nemneikim Changsan and various Kuki traditional dances by Cultural Troupes.
One of the famous Kuki traditional dances ‘Khul kon Lam’ was performed by Lower Songpijang. Another popular Kuki traditional dances ‘Lom Kivah Lam’ was presented by Bethel Veng. One of the best Kuki traditional Sports dances ‘Selkal Lam’ performed by Joujam Veng. ‘Suhta Lam’ by PHE Veng; ‘Jangcha Lam’ by Molnom Veng; ‘Selpang Lam’ by Upper Songpijang Area.
Short speech were also delivered by Dampu Thangew, Seihao Guite, Sehpao Changsan, and Lenmang Haolai.The day programme concluded with prayer by Upa Lutpao Singson.
Mr. & Miss SYC contest was also organized during the celebration. The first round was held in the evening of 1st November 2022, Kuki Chavang Kut day. The final round is going on tonight.
