CEM Gorlosa inaugurates dialysis unit at Haflong Civil Hospital

 


Haflong, 16th March, 2023: Chief Executive Member of NCHills
Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa inaugurated the dialysis unit at the Haflong
Civil Hospital today, in presence of Executive Member i/c Medical Samuel
Changsan.




The programme was also attended by Principal Secretary Thai Tsho
Daulagupu, Deputy Secretary Rebecca Changsan, Jt. Director Health Services Dr.
Duleshwar Gogoi, superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital Dr. A K Kakoti, Chief
Medical and Health Officer Dr. Marina L. Changsan and others.




Speaking on the occasion, CEM Gorlosa said that this will be a
great relief for the economically weaker section in the district who can now
avail this facility of dialysis totally free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri
National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP).




This unit under PMNDP implemented by National Health Mission
(NHM)was announced in Union Budget 2016-17 with an objective to provide free
Hemo-Dialysis to the patients suffering from kidney related diseases.




At present the Dialysis Centre has treatment area, dialyzer
re-processing area, waiting area and Store Room. 6 numbers of patients have
already registered for treatment under this unit as unformed by the officials.




The Hemo-Dialysis Centres under PMNDP has been implemented in
Assam in Public Private Partnership mode. M/s Apollo Hospitals Enterprise
Limited, Chennai has been chosen through detailed selection process by National
Health Mission, Assam to implement the Dialysis Programme in Assam. There are
36 functional centers in the state of which Haflong Civil Hospital is the 37th
centre.




The procedure for new registration, the patients may directly
walk into the Dialysis Centres where the patient’s clinical documentation (past
clinical history, viral screening details – HCV, HBsAG, HIV) are verified. Then
the patients are referred to the Consultant Nephrologist or government
institution for the advice on dialysis. Each empanelled Nephrologist visit the
centre fortnightly for advice to the patients suffering from kidney related
diseases. Senior Dialysis Technician allots Treatment schedule to the patient
based upon Nephrologist advice.




The centre will remain open on all days of a week except on
Sunday from 9:30 AM onwards. Each dialysis session usually takes 4-6 hours for
completion.
