CEM Debolal Gorlosa Inaugurates Heritage Week Celebration at Maibang

Maibang 21st November 2025. The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) organised a One-Day Programme to celebrate Heritage Week today, at 11:00 AM in Khasmaipur, Maibang.

The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Executive Member, Shri Debolal Gorlosa, who underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural traditions of the Dimasa community. He emphasized that such platforms showcase the district’s historical way of life and stressed the role of children in carrying forward the legacy of Dimasa culture.

Highlighting the Dimasa’s recorded history across Dimapur, Hojai, Cachar, and other regions, CEM noted that many Dimasa artefacts have been lost due to lack of preservation. He reaffirmed his commitment to the preservation of Khaspur and urged all citizens to speak in their mother tongue as a means of safeguarding cultural identity.

As part of the celebration, a Literary Competition focusing on Cultural Heritage was conducted, featuring:Folk Stories / Folklore Recitation Competition and Sol Badaiba (Traditional Cultural Oration)

In a significant gesture, the CEM announced an increase in prize money for the competitions, raising the awards from ₹1,500, ₹1,000, and ₹500 to ₹15,000, ₹10,000, and ₹5,000 respectively for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions.

The event was convened by Ms. Adhunika Khersa and attended by Executive Member Shri Monjit Naiding (i/c Veterinary), MAC Shri Monjoy Langthasa, officials, Gaon Bura of Khasmaipur, and other dignitaries.
