6 March’26 Haflong. Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, visited Dima Hasao District on 6th March 2026. He was accompanied by Sri Andra Vamsi, IAS, Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Home Affairs. During his visit, Shri Kumar interacted with local bodies and organizations, seeking suggestions and feedback for the overall development of the district. Leaders and representatives from the Dimasa Student’s Union, Zeme Council, and other organizations participated in the discussions.
In the review meeting at Circuit House Conference Hall with several departments under the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council.
(NCHAC), Shri Kumar emphasized the need for concrete steps to strengthen departmental functioning and improve services for the people of Dima Hasao.
Rukmini Difoesa
highlighted the shortage of staff and congestion of hospital beds. CEM Debolal
Gorlosa informed the Minister that due to non-sanctioning of posts, the
Autonomous Council is unable to advertise new positions.

Rebecca Changsan (i/c Education, NCHAC) apprised the Minister that over 100
appointments were recently made in the education sector. The apex body demanded
the establishment of a University Campus, an Engineering College, and more
central schools in remote areas of the district.
Shri Kumar inspected
the PM Shri Government Girls Higher Secondary School and interacted with
students. He also visited NL Daulagupu Sports Stadium and the Civil Hospital at
Haflong to review infrastructure and facilities.
