Haflong, 13th March, 2025: The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) held its Interim Budget Session for the financial year 2026-27 today at the NCHAC Session Hall.
The Interim Budget was presented by Sri Donpainon Thaosen, Executive Member in-charge of Finance. In his budget speech, Sri Thaosen highlighted the necessity of the interim measure to defray essential salary expenditures for the Council Normal Sector. The provision covers a period of three months, beginning April 1, 2026, and extending through the start of the 2026-27 financial year.
Addressing the house, Sri Thaosen noted that while the interim budget ensures immediate financial obligations are met, a Full Budget for the 2026-27 financial year will be introduced in the subsequent Council Budget Session.
Chairman Mohet Hojai, who summoned the session of the Thirteenth N.C. Hills Autonomous Council, further clarified that the comprehensive discussion and placement of the Full Budget will take place after the upcoming Assembly elections.
The session saw active participation from the Members of the Autonomous Council (MACs), reflecting the council's commitment to fiscal responsibility during the election period.
