St. Agnes’ Convent to hold “PAST PUPILS’ MEET

          Haflong, March 15,2012 - The staffs of St. Agnes Convent School, Haflong held a press meet on 15 March 2012 at 10 am in the offices of the Headmistress in connection with the “Alumni Meet’ which will be held on 24 th day of Mach 2012 along with local press persons.
          In the meet a press note was read out:-
“PAST PUPILS’ MEET
          The sisters of St. Agnes Convent School, Haflong, Assam are thankful to God Almighty for completion 150 years of their     religious Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions R.N.D.M. On this glorious event a few facts are highlighted about the most revered mother NEE EUPHRASIE BARRIER and fulfilling of her dream by her daughters in different parts of the world.
CONGREGATION OF OUR LADY OF THE MISSION
FOUNDRESS :NEE M.MARY OF THE HEART OF JESUS EUPHRASIE BARRIER :-The Congregation of our lady of the Mission was founded in Lyons, France, by  EUPHRASIE BARRIER on 15th August 1861. Seized by the love of God, the spirit of devotion and services towards mankind, EUPHRASIE BARRIER founded this Congregation.The work begun through her by the power of God continued to be consolidated and to expand to further mission fields. We have Convents in France,Canada,S.America,England,Africa,Ireland, Scotland,Australia,New Zealand,Phillipines, Bangladesh,Sudan,Senegal,Thailand,Burma (Myanmar),Vietnam,Taiwan,China and of course India.
          ST. AGNES’ CONVENT SCHOOL, HAFLONG
DATE OF FOUNDATION: 15 TH MARCH1918- St. Agnes’ Convent School, Haflong, North Cachar (Dima Hasao) is a Catholic Educational Institution, the second school in Assam, opened after Cotton Collegiate School in Guwahati. It is run by the Sisster of Our Lady of the Missions. It is a permanently recognized Institution having its recognition from Calcutta University at its inception and automatically to Guwahati University thence to SEBA. It was a residential school at its start. Now, it is serving the people of Assam especially the children of N.C.Hills (Dima Hasao). A recognized tribal hostel is attached to it; and tribal children are benefited both by the school and the boarding.
          AIM: “Since all wisdom and knowledge are reflection of the knowledge and wisdom of God, we undertake works of general education at all levels and in all areas, never forgetting that we have a special responsibility to the poor.
          Our aim is to promote the integral formation of our pupils withrespect to their ultimate goal for the good of the societies to which they belong and for which as adults they will share responsibility.
          Since many elements combine in the integral education of young people we do our best to associate the parents and families of our pupils with the life and spirit of our School and avoid any alienation of the School from the social background of our pupils.”
RNDM Directive : Art-22 :- The Institution is sparing no pain to keep up its tradition, “Virtue and Knowledge” being its motto. It gives much stress on moral education and bring up of the character and personality of its pupils, while instilling in them the yearning for knowledge to enable the students to face the world squarely, with the collaboration of their parents and the Government officials and other organization by taking part in various programmes to meet the modern challeges with the same spirit of service to all.
          The Echool prepares the students for HSLC Examination. Overall development of the whole person being our primary aim, we try to draw out the best in the child, “BODY, MIND and SPIRIT”.
          On this occasion Sr. Euphrasia Nadon, Sr. Superior of St. Agnes’ Convent School is pleased to invite all the past pupils (Boys and girls) of the institution to attend the “PAST PUPILS’ MEET on 24th March,2012 at 11am in the school premises.
