TM Good Shepherd School, Gunjung, 27 km from Haflong
declared holiday for the school due to lack of water. Though there are 4 lakh
litter rainwater harvest tanks made by the school authority but all went dry
due to lack of rain this year.
There is no PHE water supply for the Institute for many years now. They manange the water from a small (nala) stream some 2km away but it also went dry. The school has 211 boys and girls in the hostel and with residential staff it come to 250 in the campus. For more than a month the school manage by carrying water from different fishponds and Moti Nala which is 10 km away from the school. Finally the school has been closed for a week.
