Zion, December 1,2013 : The Bible Society of India, Haflong Branch, held a BSI Special promotional Programme at Zion Presbyterian Church on December 1,2013 with worship Service from 10:30 am onwards under the Chairmanship of  Dulu Daulagupu.

In this worship service almost all the members and collectors of the  Bible Society of India, Haflong Branch. Besides, the local church leaders,members and other guests from Haflong area.

The Speaking on the occasion was Rev. Dr. L.S.Khawbung, who reminded the gathering about a little girl Mary Jones. He said that the little girl Mary Jones learnt about the BIBLE and was longing to have her own Bible. She, therefore, saved a penny everyday, which her parents gave her for Tiffin. After she had saved enough money, she travelled many miles and purchased the Bible for herself. Therefore, in her memory THE BIBLE SUNDAY is observed on 1st December  every year all over the world by Christians.

Rev. Khawbung appealed to all who gathered there to extend helping hand to provide millions people of India who still do not have the Bible in their own language. He, further, said that every Christian are commanded by Lord and saviour Jesus Christ to preach about the Gospel, which is the ‘message of God’s love for all as revealed in Jesus Christ’. Every one who received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour become the children of God and will live with God forever. One of the best ways to tell others about the gospel is to give then the Bible in their own language. When one read the Bible in own dialect, they will understand the love of God, the salvation through Jesus Christ.

 Earlier, the Secretary of BSI Haflong Branch, Rev. H.Haolai report about the activities of the BSI Haflong Branch  and also distributed Certificates to all collectors of the branch.  He also said that everyone should know God, have His salvation and help others to know God and serve the Lord. God love all, but majority of the people of the world still do not understand the love of God. It is the responsibility of every Christian to tell others. The first and best way of telling others about God is to give them the Bible, so that they may read the Bible. The BSI is committed to present the Bible to those who still do not have the Bible in their own language. When they have the Bible in their own language, they will read themselves in own language and understand what God says in the Bible for men and women.

Rev. H.Haolai also report about the latest promotional work of the Society and gave the brief account of the Society and also appealed to the gathering with a request to take membership in the Society. He informed the gathering that the BSI main work is translation of the Bible into all the languages of Indian so that they may learn the word of God in their own mother tongue. He further said that the BSI has no other sources but only membership fee. He, therefore, request all to take membership to help the BSI publish the Bible in every linguistic group’s mother tongue so that the words of God may be presented to every community.

The local Zion Youth and Fiangpui Choir entertained the audience with their presented songs.
