Haflong, Jan 13 – The Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen laid foundation stone of Silk Processing Unit at Sericulture campus, Sarkari Bagan in presence of Executive Member S T Jem Hrangkhol, i/c Sericulture etc.Addl. Director of Sericulture and other officials on Wednesday.
This was followed by inauguration of ‘Eri silkworm Rearers workshop cum spinning competition’ organized by the Department with the aim to transfer the new technology of Ericulture to the rearers and to motivate the spinners for production of quality silk yarn.
Executive Member S T Jem Hrangkhol, i/c Sericulture etc Addressing the gatherings explained the aim of the workshop and appealed to avail the opportunity in the its fullest term. He also said how the rearers can get more benefit adopting new technology of Ericulture which could enhance their livelihood to a great extent.
The Chief Executive Mmber, N C Hills Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen while opening the ‘Eri silkworm Rearers workshop cum spinning competition’ announced rewards for the top spinner, top NGO and the best department to the tune of one lakh rupees each from his office. During the programme he also released departmental leaflet.
Earlier, all the VIPs and the guests were felicitated with traditional eri mufflers.
