133rd Martyr’s Day observed at Haflong













 Haflong Feb 12 : 133rd Martyr’s Day of Veer Sambudhan Phinglo, a Dimasa Freedom fighter, organized by the Dimasa Students’ Union was observed here at Haflong on Wednesday in presence of huge gatherings. People from Dimasa community in particular and various communities in general offer floral tribute to the statue of Veer Sambudhan Phinglo.

Veer Sambudhan Phinglo is considered to be the one among others who starts the freedom struggle against the British rule in the region. Speaking on the occasion Sri Dharampal Gupta, a senior citizen of Haflong said due respect to such freedom fighters should be accorded since they sacrificed their life for the freedom of our country, which we are enjoying today. Dethang Naiding, former President, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom and General Secretary of Dima Hasao BJP opined to constitute a committee to observe such auspicious days related to such great men should be formed, so that such august days would be observed in a befitting manner. People of the district appeal to the Central and State governments to recognize Veer Sambudhan Phinglo as National Freedom fighter.
