Haflong, November 13,2014 : The N.F.Railway Construction Organisation has completed the work of Tunnel No.7 in Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new BG rail line project (National Project) and made through on 5.11.2014 at 16.30 hrs., reports D.C.Borah, Sr.PRO/Con N.F.Railway,Maligaon.
The length of the tunnel is 1929 mt. The work for the tunnel was done from both ends despite the land strata being poor. The tunnel passes 25 meter underneath the National Highway No.37 at Imphal end.
With this N.F.Railway has completed 9 nos. of tunnels. Railway has further planned to complete at least 11 tunnels (out of 34) during current financial year between Jiribam-Tupul. So far about 25 km out of 39.4 km tunneling work has been completed between Jiribam-Tupul since the tunnel works effectively started in the year 2011-12.
