celebrated their traditional festival
‘Nulding-Kut’ at Fiangpui village on on 12 Jan 2015
(as the actual day 11 Jan 2015 happens
to be Sunday ) with fervour and gaiety.
The Kut was graced as Chief Guest by Vanneitluanga, Editor, Lengzem & Zonet
Channel of Mizoram, wlile The Kut Pa (Chief Host) was NG. C. Dinga
Nampui. Besides, Guests of Honour were 1. Sri. Lomtea Zadeng ex MLA,
Mizoram;2. Rev. D C Haia Darnei, President, Biate Devanpui;3. Sri. V. L. Hruaia
Ralte Historian, Mizoram
Other dignitaries who attended the programme included 1. Mrs. Lalneizovi Nampui, ADC, Haflong;2. Sri. Lalremsanga Nampui, Sr.
FAO, NCHAC, Haflong;3. Sri. Thangpuia Ngamlai, DPEO, Haflong;4. Elder
Lalremthanga Nampui, MO Agri.;5. Smti. Lalremsiami, BDO, Harangajao ITDP and
others.
In the contest for Mr & Miss
Nulding Kut 2015 Mr. Ronick
Rengnela Ngamlai and Miss Sangthuami Ngamlai were declared winner.
Mentioned may be made here that the ‘Nulding-Kut’ festivals is
celebrated by the Biate community as a mark of renewal of life and to symbolize
the beginning of new year for new activities of life including cultivation and
livelihood.The villagers come together to renew their future prospect on the
other hand people forgive and forget their short coming sorrows and anger
arising out of their past deed considering as a day of forgiveness.
The main attraction always are colourful cultural dances and folk songs
and exhibition of traditional cloths and handicrafts. It is also customary for
elderly people of the villaga to visit the house of the village chief to talk
about their activities and taking feast together in utensils traditionally
made.
The festival also been observed in all Biate Tribal
community dominated areas of the Dima Hasao district.
