Haflong,April’5: The most sacred day of Christian Calendar Easter Sunday was celebrated with full of gaiety in Haflong, through multi Tribal and multi Christian approach in Haflong, Dima Hasao apart from the entire Southern Assam today.
On the occasion the Haflong Garrison has organised a day long program with Easter Mass conducted by Father Sebastian Ishoray, Don Bosco Church, Haflong, Pastors of Fiangpui and Muolhoi Protestant Churches. The Mass was attended by sisters of St Agnes School, Choirs of Fiangpui, Muolhoi, Don Bosco Churches and 43 Assam Rifles.
Hundreds of Baptists, Orthodox Christians, and community from different tribes along with families of soldiers from other faith and students also joined the celebration. Speaking on the occasion the DIG urged all to volunteers and to revive Haflong Lake with the slogan ‘Humlukun Ka Jaan, Humlukun Ka Lake’ an initiative of ‘Batch 1993 Haflongites’ to protect flora and fauna.
Apart from celebration in Haflong Garrison, the soldiers of the Assam Rifles also visited nearly all churches of Southern Assam to greet people on the sacred day with gifts and good wishes, while all COBs held small Easter prayers for local people and soldiers followed by small feasts on respective areas with spirit of resurrection of Jesus Christ.
