SOCH Unveiled In Maibang

Haflong,June’4: The ceremonial unveiling of the Project ‘SOCH’ (Save Our Culture & Heritage) was held at the Maibang Stone House , and was formerly unveiled by the Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Debojeet Thaosen in the presence EMs like Mahendra Kemprai, Samuel Changsan, Debo Prasad Hojai, Nirmal Langthasa, and Tulsi Prasad Upadhyay MAC and officials from Assam Rifles and other members of the organizing committee.


According to the sources, SOCH is Maibang based project intended for all the tribes of Dima Hasao, an initiative  to unite and bring all the people of Dima Hasao under one umbrella and to mingle up all the Tribes & Communities with different culture, customs and traditions.
 CEM Debojeet Thaosen appreciated SOCH and said the N C Hills Autonomous Council will extend every possible support for its success.Important items of the programme were  felicitation to the Chief Guest and other guests; Dimasa traditional dance presented  by Dimasa Womens’ Association and Dishru Cultural Club; pipe band displayed by the students of Maibang HS school with band of Assam Rifles; presentation of the theme song of ‘SOCH’ by the local artists of Maibang and traditional dress show by boys and girls of the different tribes ; distribution of gifts to the participants;  vote of thanks from Ashim Dipusa, President  of the SOCH and conclusion with national anthem by the gathering.
Mention may be made here that Stone House, according to record, was built on 4th Feb 1761 AD curved out of a single stone in a night by Dimasa King Raja Harishchandra Narayana during his reign. It was devoted to Goddess Ranachandi, the Goddess of war.
