World Blood Donors Day Organized In Haflong

Haflong, June’14: The World Blood Donors day was observed today in Haflong Civil Hospital, organized by the Blood Bank, Haflong  with theme of this year’s campaign  “Thank you for saving my life” is focused on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations strongly encourages more people all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan “Give freely, give often.The  day long program was attended as Chief Guest by Nirmal Langthasa, Executive Member for Medical, N C Hills Autonomous Council and presided over by the Dr Biva Borah.

Speaking on the occasion chief guest Nirmal Langthasa stressed on to come forward to donate blood voluntarily to save life of people which is a noble cause and extended his gratitude to all for make it happen.While, Dr Biva Borah said that the shortage of blood has come down significantly in the Haflong Civil Hospital, because of blood donation by the individual and organization. On the day prizes were distributed by the chief guest to the highest unit of blood donor’s organization, the first prize was given to the 43 Assam Rifle with 63 unit ,second prize to the presbytery youth fellowship with 40 unit and consolation prizes to the young mizo association, don bosco alumni association, Press Club, Haflong  and other NGOs.
The program was also attended by the doctors from the 43 Assam Rifle, Dr L Vaiphei and  Dr Nomita Nunisa in-charge blood bank, citizens of Haflong and paramedical staffs while the vote of thanks was given by Dr Nomita Nunisa. To be mention that the campaign aims to highlight the stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so.
