Mass Rally Against Bundh Culture


Haflong,  August, 25: A massive rally on peace  and  against the bandh culture  was held  today in Haflong town, jointly organised by Jadikhe Naiso Hasom (JNH), Hasao  Welfare Society (HWS), All Dimasa Student Union (ADSU), Hasao Youth Society (HYS) and other various clubs, NGOs and organization.
  The rally started from Cultural Hall at 11:00 AM  by thousand of school students, representative of civil societies and and general public through  the main road carrying placard and banners against the Bandh culture and appealing  peace in the district for all round development.

The organizers submitted a memorandum to the P B Acharya, Governor of Assam through Deputy Commissioner, opposing bandh culture in Dima Hasao District.
The memo was submitted citing the MoS signed on  8th Octber’2012  between both faction of DHD with the government of India  and  government of Assam and welcomed by the all people living in the district irrespective of caste creed and religion bringing peace after decade long unrest. It also said that unfortunately peace and tranquillity in the district is being disturbed by some misguided youth and that unrest and disturbance is felt due  to Bandh culture which is causing big loss to the students community and livelihood of the poor.

 While, the memo opposed bifurcation of district with less than 2 lakh population which is not feasible, moreover all the communities are equally represented in the  N C Hills Autonomous Council economically, politically and socially. The memo appealed the governor to issue notification to totally ban on Bandh in Dima Hasao district for peace and prosperity among all.
To be mention that earlier occasion  and recent Bandh from 20th August’2015  by various tribal organisation for  a 48 hours district bandh demanding bifurcation of Dima Hasao following which the normal life of the district was effected
