Distribution of free laptops under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme at Haflong


Haflong, February 26,2019: At least 118 students who secured 75% and above in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2018 were given free laptops under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme, in a ceremonial distribution programme today, February 26,2019 at the District Library Auditorium, Haflong.


The programme, organized by district administration, was graced by Executive Member of  North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Ms. Nandita Gorlosa as the chief guest while the Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa and Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam attended as guests of honour. 
The programme was also attended by Mukut Kemprai , Principal Secretary(N) N.C. Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong , Bikram Dev Sharma, ADC Dima Hasao district Administration, Zovi Nampui Secretary, Education, N.C. Hills Autonomous Council, Inspector of Schools Ms Gayatri Naiding, Students, parents, teachers media persons and others.
After welcome address by Gayatri Naiding, Inspector of School, Dima Hasao, lightening of lamps and floral tribute was offered to the portrait of late Anundaram Barooah, the first Graduate and first I.C.S.OF Assam. Nandita Gorlosa, Executive Member, i/c Education etc N.C. Hills Autonomous Council congratulated the students and termed them as Gems of the district. She also encouraged the students to achieve their future goal towards development of our country in the field of science and technology. Other dignitaries encouraged the students’ community and asked to keep the spirit and try hard in enhancing the number of award winning students in the next academic session. They also congratulated parents and teachers of the district for their continuous support in achieving the award.
T.T Daolagupu in his speech congratulated all the students who received the award and also congratulated Amitabh Rajkhowa and Srijeet T. Superintendent of police, Dima Hasao for maintaining law and order situation in a good manner and for installing the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity in the district. Srijeet T., Superintendent of police addressed the students’ community about the necessity of laptop, computer in this era. He also described that laptop, mobile and computer are all of same analogy and which are part and parcel of modern development.
Mention may be made here that this scheme has been going on since the year 2005, which was announced by the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has helped in encouraging competitive spirit among the students in the district and has encouraged the students to march forward in this age of competition acquiring the knowledge of information technology.
