Haflong,
December 19, 2020 : The villagers of
Semkhor demand visiting doctors for Public Health Centre in their village. They
said that they do not demand doctors to be posted and station permanently at
the village but to visit the village once a week for treat at least emergency
cases.
Some
elders of the village met media persons on December 19 and requested to highlight
their grievances and demand. They said that they have to Maibang Hospital,
which is 29 KM from their village for availing medical treatment even for mild
ailment. In every visit, they have to spend more than Rs. 7000 for conveyance
to reach Haflong for better treatment, they added.
As
such, they have been demanding doctors to visit the PHC since along time but there
is still no positive response from the concerned authority, they lamented.
It
may be stated that Semkhor villager is situated 85 km from the district Headquarter
Haflong in Dima Hasao district. For emergency treatment, they have to hire
vehicles at the rate of Rs. 3,500/- to visit Hospital at Maibang.
