Haflong,
April 01, 2021: Polling in the second
phase of the Assam Assembly Election, 2021 for 16-Haflong (ST) Legislative
Assembly Constituency concluded with estimated 74 per cent vote cast today at
6.00 PM.
Though
rainfall had interrupted in the morning, voters turned out to cast their
valuable vote for choosing their Assembly representative. The total percentage
of vote cast was estimated as 74% at the close of poll.
There are 4
candidates from different political parties in fray for the 16-Haflong (ST)
Assembly constituency, result of which
is to be declared on May 2 next.
Altogether
988 polling officials along with 492 security personnel, 67 sector officers and
11 zonal officers braved heavy rainfall and difficult terrain to reach their
designated polling stations to perform their poll duties around the district of
Dima Hasao.
It is to be
noted that the polling officials made the first move on 30th March for those
polling stations which are located in far flung corners of the district and
rest on the next day, which are closely located.
The district
administration meanwhile is all prepared to receive the officials who are
gradually returning with the EVM machines after their successful conduct of
their duties in 246 polling stations amidst tight security.
