IPF holds Indefinite Bandh call from April 26

Haflong, 25 April 2023 : The Indigenous People’s Forum (IPF) today holds their proposed bandh, which they called to be effective from April 26.

This was announced in a Press meet today at Haflong by the IPF President Mr. L.Kuki, Working President S.Jeme and General Secretary L.Hlima Keivom in presence of other leaders and workers.


Addressing media persons, the Working President S.Jeme said that the IPF in its meeting on April 10 had decided to call Indefinite NCHills (Dima Hasao) bandh from April 26 in protest against the negligence of their demand by the Govt of Assam.

Meanwhile, he said, the Government of Assam, on April 24 has invited the IPF for talk on May 9, 2023. As such, the IPF has decided to halt the bandh till May 9. He expressed hope that the Government would surely conceded with the demands of the IPF.
Thus, there will no longer be bandh on April 26.

Later, the IPF issued a press release, stating their meeting today decided to withdraw the Indefinite N.C. Hills Bandh that had been called w.e.f. 26th April, 2023.
