CEM Debojit Thaosen cease illegal timber at Manderdisa

November 23,2011- The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Haflong of Assam Debojit Thaosen has ceased the timber illegally collected at Manderdisa, around the 100km from the district Headquarter of Dima Hasao District of Assam on November 23, 2011.

Mention may be made here that such illegal timber trade have been going on when the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council can not allow such timber operation after the Supreme Court of India has ban timber operation since some years back. Due to this, the council has been running in a low profile with financial problem as it has lost its main revenue from Forest department. This needs minute discussion and assessment. The Council could not carry out timber trade due to the ban but illegal felling of trees and illegal timber trade going on, while the council lost its main source of income, unable to pay even salary to its employees since the ban of forest operation. Forest are not safe either. It require second thought.
