People of Dima Hasao District celebrate the 61st Foundation Day of its Council at Haflong

Haflong, 29th  April,2012 – The 61st DHAC Foundation Day of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council was celebrated in a grand manner. The two da long programme was started from 28th April where the Chief Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debojit Thaosen inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls of different Departments at Council Secretariate Field, Haflong. Later in the day, a seminar on the DHAC and Jhor Bodo Memorial Cultural Night was also held.
On the auspicious day of the 29th of April,2012 a procession was held from Haflong Cultural Institute Hall to the Council Secretariate, where a large number of people took part including the CEM,Ems, MACs, Officials, School students and others.

In the public meeting at 11am the MP Birensing Engti graced the function as the Chief Guest,gave some suggestion as the means for development concerning the district as well as the Council.  Engti said that the three important fields for development are communication, education and industry. He, therefore, encouraged small scale industry for the hills people.

Earlier, the CEM Debojit Thaosen delivered his valuable speech by saying that that day was one of the most important day for the people of the district. He strongly condemned the bandh called by various organizations, saying that they are disrespectful to the occasion, that the Chief Minister could not come due to the bandh.The CEM Thaosen, in his speech, also mentioned about the various developmental activities, peogress in education and in other fields.
The  MP also released Souvenir of DHAC  title’ Dima Hasao- an unexplored destination’  in CD,  “Luxuriant Dima Hasao Green’ published  by the Forest Department and three publications by the Department of Information and Public Relations, Haflong, namely ‘Dima Hasao Tourist Guide’, Multi Lingual WordBook-II and Photo Postcard of the Colourful People of Dima Hasao. He also launched website ‘Dima Hasao.com’ by openorigin, Hyderabad.
The celebration was also attended by the Vice-Chairman of National Integration Council of Assam and meeting was also marked by different cultural show, traditional delicacies , distribution of honorarium to Gaoburhas,etc. and Bhupen Hazarika Memorial Cultural Night in the evening.
