Haflong, March 27,2015 : Media Sensitization Programme was held at Cultural Institute Hall, Haflong, with media persons by Members of National Health Mission on 27 March 2017. The programme was organized by District Health Society, Haflong, Dima Hasao to prevent negative publicity in case of any untoward incident & encouraging reporting of positive stories/ benefits of Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme and to remove Fear Psychosis among the public and the student community in the district of Dima Hasao.
The programme was attended by Dr.N.Lalsim, the Joint Director of Health Services –cum- Member Secretary of District Health Society, Dima Hasao, Haflong; Dr. Krishna Kemprai, Addl. CM&HO-cum-Nodal Officer WIFS; Rukmini Defosa DPM,NHM, Dima Hasao and John Ao, DME,NHM, Dima Hasao.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.N.Lalsim and Dr. K.Kemprai highlighted the necessity of Iron Folic Acid for women and children. That IFA tablets, is to be administered after meal and not in empty stomach to avoid adverse effect. If any adverse effect is notice, nearest ANM be contacted and refer to the nearest Health Institute accordingly, depending on the status of the patients. If such adverse affects are notice, the RBSK Team and the nearest Health Institutions are to be approach. Trained nodal teachers on WIFS are responsible for administering the IFA tablets and they are also responsible for reporting such information.
While, Rukmini Defosa DPM,NHM, Dima Hasao and John Ao, DME,NHM, informed that WIFS Programme has already covered 75 No. of schools with 24,035 students from class VI to XII. All of them have given some basic informations on WIFS Programme in the district and requested the media to help flashing awareness about the programme for the benefit of the public.
