Ahead of ministry formation, AGP and BPF leaders meet to discuss
strategy
Guwahati,
May 22: AGP president Atul Bora was today elected leader of the AGP's
legislature party.
The 14
newly elected MLAs of the AGP met at the assembly secretariat today.
During
the meeting, Keshav Mahanta was elected as deputy leader of the legislature
party, Gunindranath Das as chief whip and Satyabrata Kalita as secretary.
The AGP
legislature party, in a formal resolution, also extended its support to the BJP
to form the government. Later, AGP president Atul Bora said the people have
voted for change this time.
"We
will work as a team to ensure efficient governance. Our priority will be to
implement all clauses of the Assam Accord and to protect the rights of
indigenous people," he said.
Meanwhile,
the top leaderships of the AGP and the BPF along with the elected MLAs of the
two parties met at the Bodoland Guest House this morning and discussed various
issues pertaining to government formation.
Both the parties are demanding four berths each in Sarbananda Sonowal's
alliance government. - STL
